Health and Global Policy Institute (HGPI) Senior Manager Mr. Shunichiro Kuritaserved as a guest lecturer for Practical Training in Social Medicine, a course at Akita University Faculty of Medicine.
In a session titled “Understanding the Policy Formulation Process and the Role of Think Tanks,” Mr. Kurita provided a systematic overview of policy process theory, which is essential for understanding the healthcare system. Policy process theory is an academic field that examines how policies are formulated and decided. He also spoke about recent developments in social security, drawing on his perspective as someone involved in policy formulation. He then introduced the role that think tanks play in policy formulation, including their definition and how they are positioned.
